De Havilland Mosquito (US - Normandy)

In 1938 the Mosquito was designed as a reconnaissance aircraft, an unarmed bomber that flew so high and fast that armament would be superfluous. The Mosquito had the maneuverability of a fighter yet this bomber could also fly 400 mph. This bomber from the 653rd Bomber Squadron wore Normandy Invasion striping for the USAAF.
