Avro Lancaster Mk.III 467 Sqn. RAAF

Often referred to as the "finest heavy bomber" used by either side in World War II, the Avro Lancaster was a British creation crucial to the Allied Forces in blitzing German positions. Lancasters were credited with dropping more than 600,000 tons of high explosives and more than 51 million incendiaries. The aircraft could reach a maximum speed of 287 mph, was equipped with eight 7.7 mm machine-guns, and could carry nearly 40,000 pounds of bomb-load.
